With growing concern regarding the providence of mass produced food, many people are looking to raise their own. Raising animals to help feed your family is a challenging and rewarding task to accomplish. This workshop is developed to help teach the student to confidently, safely and humanely harvest their chickens, ducks or turkeys at home. Whether your goal in raising birds is to produce meat or eggs, this skill becomes invaluable when you need it. **Due to the sensitive nature of this workshop, addressing the comfort of the student is very important, you're welcome to choose which activities you'd like to participate in.
Time/Location: Sunday June 25th, 10:00 am-2:00 pm (includes 30 minute break). Class will be held at Nightlight Farm, 82548 Vinemaple Rd, Seaside OR, 97138.
Cost: $55 per person; includes instruction, materials and one butchered organic, free-range chicken (valued at $25). Spaces are limited, max 5 people. Please register by June 5th.
Bring: A sack lunch, boots and clothes you won't mind getting dirty.
Bio: Sarah is the owner of Nightlight Farm and has been farming and homesteading for nearly a decade. She practices sustainable methods and ideology to the best of her ability and is a strong advocate for farmer's rights. Her goal is to be useful in encouraging and teaching confidence and skills to young and beginning farmers.
